Tosoh Bioscience HLC-723 G8: 3D Animation for Reliable Glycohemoglobin Analysis
Project Overview
For our long-term partner Tosoh Bioscience, we developed a comprehensive 3D visualization suite for the HLC-723 G8 Glycohemoglobin Analyzer - an established HPLC system for reliable HbA1c testing and hemoglobin variant screening, including beta-thalassemia, with a large installed base in clinical laboratories across global markets. The G8 is the predecessor to the HLC-723 G11 and represents a proven generation of the Tosoh glycohemoglobin platform. With a large installed base worldwide, it remains an important reference point for Tosoh Bioscience's marketing and distributor communication - and a system for which high-quality visual assets carry long-term value. Our task was to present its analytical reliability and clinical breadth in a way that supports both ongoing sales and the wider positioning of the Tosoh HPLC portfolio.
The Challenge
The G8 serves a dual diagnostic purpose: routine HbA1c monitoring for diabetes management, and hemoglobin variant detection including beta-thalassemia screening. These are clinically distinct applications, and the animation needed to reflect both without losing narrative clarity. The internal HPLC separation process - where hemoglobin fractions are chromatographically resolved and individually quantified - is the core of the G8's analytical value. Like all HPLC-based instruments, this process is invisible during normal operation. Making it visible and understandable for an audience that includes both laboratory scientists and non-specialist marketing and distributor contacts was the central task. An additional dimension was the Sysmex track integration - showing how the G8 connects into automated laboratory workflows and handles samples arriving from a Sysmex line, which is a relevant configuration for mid-size hospital laboratories.
Our Solution
We created a photorealistic digital twin of the HLC-723 G8 and structured the animation around the full analytical workflow - exterior presentation, automated sample handling, HPLC separation with cutaway sequences, and result output. The visual approach prioritized clarity and precision, with clean laboratory lighting and accurate material rendering throughout. A dedicated sequence shows the G8 integrated into a Sysmex automated line - demonstrating sample routing, automated loading, and the transition from track system to analyzer. This sequence addresses a specific purchasing scenario relevant to hospital laboratories looking to extend their automation infrastructure without moving to a full high-throughput platform. The animation was designed to work consistently across multiple deployment contexts: digital marketing, distributor presentations, trade fair screens, and sales meetings.
Impact & Results
The 3D animation and renders gave Tosoh Bioscience a complete visual asset for international marketing of the HLC-723 G8. The content supports sales communication across markets where both diabetes diagnostics and hemoglobin variant screening are clinical priorities, and provides a clear visual argument for the G8's position within the broader Tosoh glycohemoglobin platform.
What This Project Required
Animating the HLC-723 G8 required understanding not only HPLC technology and HbA1c analysis, but also the clinical context of hemoglobin variant detection - a diagnostically distinct application with its own relevance in specific geographic markets and patient populations. Getting both dimensions right in a single animation, without making the content feel overloaded, required careful narrative planning alongside technical accuracy. The Sysmex integration sequence added a further layer of complexity - accurately representing how two different manufacturers' systems interact in a real laboratory automation context is not something a generalist studio can approach without significant preparation.
